How it works
How Arlo runs your payments.
A fully disclosed, card-brand-compliant dual pricing program, run by an employee who reports everything.
The program
ARLOCHOICEDual pricing. Zero-cost processing. Two posted prices, fully disclosed, and a patient who chooses. Here is exactly what happens at the front desk.
01 / POST
Post
Compliant signage is posted so the patient knows their payment options before checkout. At checkout the patient is offered CASH or CARD.
02 / PRESENT
Present
The terminal presents the total with the CARD PRICE alongside the CASH PRICE; the cash price is listed 3.99% lower than the card price.
03 / PAY
Pay
If the patient chooses card, the terminal processes the full card price and the 3.99% differential covers the processing cost. If the patient chooses cash, they are rewarded with the lower price and the practice benefits from immediate payment and lower accounts receivable.
Checkout / terminal view
Stop paying for your patients' airline miles and credit card reward points.
Not surcharging
Dual pricing is not a surcharge. The difference is who decides.
Owners who have only heard of surcharging expect a fee at the end. Dual pricing starts the conversation before the card comes out.
Surcharging
A fee at the end.
- A fee is added on top at checkout, after the patient has decided to pay by card.
- Restricted or capped in some states, with rules that change.
- Debit cards cannot be surcharged, so the rule differs by card type.
- Patients see a line item they did not expect.
Arlo Choice
Two prices up front.
- Two posted prices are shown up front, before checkout starts.
- Consistent across payment types: one card price, one cash price.
- The patient chooses, and the cash price is a real discount.
- Disclosed on signage, on the terminal, and on the receipt.
